Video: Isanti Co. Deputies Save Car From Catching Fire

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – New dash cam video shows Isanti County Sheriff's Deputies helping to save a woman from a fiery crash last week.

According to the Isanti County Sheriff's Office, just after 2:30 a.m. officers responded to a head-on crash on Highway 95 at Zodiac Street.

Upon arrival, deputies learned that a 1997 Buick Century was heading west on Highway 95 when it crossed the center line and hit a 2006 GMC Yukon. The Buick quickly became engulfed in flames.

The driver of the Buick became trapped in the car and was pronounced dead on the scene.

The driver of the Yukon, a 36-year-old Mora woman, was also trapped in the car, but conscious. Officials attempted to extricate her but could not after several attempts.

Deputies, realizing the Yukon could also catch on fire as it was near the Buick, used the bumpers on their squad cars to move the vehicle to safety.
