Bakk: Special Session Not Likely Until After Conventions

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Gov. Mark Dayton plans to meet with lawmakers as they try again to reach an agreement on a special session.

Gov. Mark Dayton said Wednesday that he plans to meet with House Speaker Kurt Daudt and Senate Majority Leader Tom Bakk.

They have not met since June.

Dayton and legislative leaders have repeatedly discussed a possible special session to resurrect a $1 billion public construction package and a $260 million tax relief bill.

Bakk believes a special session wouldn't happen until mid-August because of the upcoming political conventions.
