Tap Talk: Boom Island Hosts 3rd Annual Boom Days

Boom Island Brewing Company is bringing a taste of Belgium to Minnesota!

For the third year in a row, the Minneapolis brewery is celebrating the Belgian National Day. Friday through Sunday, Boom Island is celebrating all things Belgium with a food, games, entertainment and beer.

The much-anticipated Cuvée de Boom will also be released during the celebration and will be available for purchase all weekend long. A mix of Pinot Grigio grapes and a Belgian blond ale, Cuvée de Boom is light, effervescent and smooth. The 12.5 percent ABV brew has hints of white plum, grapes and champagne.

Other specialty brews will be on tap throughout the weekend as well.

Guests can also get a taste of Belgium by hearing Belgian hip-hop artist Too Tuff perform and take a virtual tour of Belgium's countless breweries.

Boom Days runs 4 – 9 p.m., 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. Saturday and 12 to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Friday, July 15

4 p.m. – Boom Room opens. My Burger food truck will arrive.
6 p.m. – Cuvée de Boom releases in 750ml bottles. Twin Cities French Horn Club performs.
7 p.m. – Belgian hip-hop rapper Too Tuff performs
8 p.m. – Brad Bellows and Friends, featuring Larry Hillman on saxophone, performs

Saturday, July 16

11 a.m. – MN Brewery Running Series 5K takes place
1 p.m. – Boom Room opens. Nate Dogs and Betty Dangers food truck will arrive. 2015 Home Brew Competition winner JD Park will release his Saison.
1:30 p.m. – The Above Average Tuba Quartet will perform.
2 p.m. – Triple Brett American Wild Ale will be on tap.
3 p.m. – The Crossing Guards, featuring Martin Devaney, will perform. Oude Funk will be on tap.
4 p.m. – Oude Funk with Cherries will be on tap.
5 p.m. – The Bill Patten Trio will perform.
6:30 p.m. – Phantom Tails performs.
6 p.m. – Eleganza performs.

Sunday, July 17

12 p.m. – Boom Room opens. Louisiana Purchase Cajun food will be on site.
1 p.m. – Jason McCann from Cargill will discuss varieties of malts available for home brewers.
2 p.m. – Taylor Quill from Quill Bros. Hop Farm will talk hops.
3 p.m. – Touring the Great Breweries of Belgium presentation.
4 p.m. – Jeff Merriman of Northern Brewer will discuss Belgian yeast.
5p.m. – Boom Days Home Brew Competition Awards Ceremony
