Eden Prairie Man Arrested After High-Speed Police Chase

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- An Eden Prairie man is behind bars after taking police on a high-speed chase through a construction zone Thursday morning.

Chad Lithgow, 33, led police on a chase that began in Minnetonka and ended in Edina.

Minnetonka police say the pursuit started just before 9 a.m.

Officers attempted to stop Lithgow's car for speeding on Interstate 494, when he took off heading north.

Police would not say how fast Lithgow was driving, but MnDOT traffic management cameras caught him leading officers on a chase with other vehicles on the road.

Lithgow could be seen maneuvering his car across a median at one point.

He was near Highway 100 and Excelsior Blvd when he sped through a construction zone. No crews were out working on that section of the road at the time.

But he did not stop there. Traffic camera video from Hwy 100 and 50th Street shows a move Lithgow made that looked like it was taken right out of a movie car chase.

He slammed through a barricade, hitting orange barrels along the way, and barely missed a car just ahead of him on the exit ramp.

The pursuit ended in Edina near West 78th Street and Gleason Road. He crashed into a car that was backing out of a driveway. That driver was not injured.

Lithgow is no stranger to law enforcement. He has a history of fleeing police and speeding. His license is suspended, and he is also on probation for a 2014 incident where he was arrested for fleeing in a motor vehicle.
