MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A mother who was seriously injured in a crash on Highway 56 Monday morning has died.

Regions Hospital confirmed that 26-year-old Elizabeth Calderara is deceased. She was taken to the hospital Monday after she and her family were in a serious crash near Randolph, Minnesota.

State Patrol said 31-year-old Jason Calderara, Elizabeth's husband, was driving their vehicle and passed a vehicle before cutting back to the northbound lane.

A van traveling in the southbound lane slammed on its brakes, causing the semi truck behind it to also brake. The semi jackknifed and struck the Calderara's vehicle.

Elizabeth Calderara was taken off of life support Wednesday.
