Litchfield Woman Injured After Being Pinned Between Truck & Forklift

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- An investigation is underway after a Litchfield woman was pinned between a dump-style truck and forklift Monday afternoon, according to the Meeker County Sheriff's Office.

The sheriff's office says deputies responded at 4:30 p.m. Monday to the report of a personal injury accident at a business on the 300 block of West US Highway 12 in Darwin, Minnesota.

When deputies arrived, they learned that an employee of the business reached inside and turned on the ignition on an 1985 Chevy dump-style truck. Once the truck started, it began to move in reverse and pinned a woman standing behind the truck between the truck's box and a forklift, which was parked in the shop.

The victim is identified as 53-year-old Michele Fjelstad. She was taken to Meeker Memorial Hospital by ambulance and later airlifted to the St. Cloud Hospital for treatment.

Fjelstad's current condition is unknown, but her injuries do not appear life-threatening, according to the sheriff's office.
