Officer Rescues Large Turtle From Highway 212 In Eden Prairie

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Officials in Eden Prairie say a new community service officer saved a large turtle over the weekend that was trying to cross a highway.

Community Service Officer Spencer Barrie started on the job last month, and on Sunday afternoon he found himself rescuing a 30-to-40 pound turtle from the middle of Highway 212.

Barrie picked up the turtle, put it in the back of his service truck and relocated it, city officials said.

The turtle was estimated to be about 2 feet in length.
