4 Things To Know: Philando Castile Shooting, Paisley Park & More
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Here's a look at the four things you need to know for Sunday, Aug. 7, 2016.
Number One: Philando Castile Shooting
It's been one month since the deadly police shooting of a black man in Falcon Heights.
Authorities say St. Anthony police officer Jeronimo Yanez shot and killed Philando Castile during a traffic stop.
Castile's girlfriend started live-streaming on Facebook seconds after the shooting.
Within hours, the video went viral.
The big question now is whether the Ramsey County attorney will press charges against Yanez.
Number Two: Prince Estate Not Selling Paisley Park
The administrator of Prince's estate says it is not planning to sell Paisley Park.
A court filing on Friday had included Prince's home and recording complex among a list of 20 properties that could be sold.
All the properties combined are worth an estimated $28 million.
Saturday, Bremer Trust issued a statement saying it would like to begin listing properties to take advantage of the hot real estate market.
It also said it does not plan to list Paisley Park.
Number Three: Presidential Race Polls
New polls released Sunday show Hillary Clinton has a big lead over Donald Trump following the Democratic National Convention.
Trump also ended one of the toughest weeks of his campaign by throwing support behind House Speaker Paul Ryan and John McCain after he initially declined to make endorsements.
In a Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll out Friday, Clinton is up nine percentage points over Trump.
Number Four: Teen Wins First Gold For U.S.
A teenager at her first Olympics won the first gold medal for the U.S.
Virginia Thrasher, 19, won the 10-meter air rifle on Saturday.
Thrasher first had her heart set on figure skating, but took up shooting after a family hunting trip where she killed a deer with her first shot.
Also on Saturday, the U.S. men's basketball team beat China 119 to 62; U.S. women's soccer beat France one to nothing, and Venus Williams suffered a difficult loss in her record 5th Olympics.
