Sheriff: Motorcyclist Killed In Western Wis. Crash

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Authorities say a motorcyclist died Sunday after a crash with a vehicle in western Wisconsin.

The Dunn County Communications Center received a 911 call at about 12:44 p.m. that a motorcycle had hit a car on County Road S at 570th street in Otter Creek Township. The initial report was that the motorcyclist was unresponsive at the scene.

When authorities arrived, the motorcyclist was an adult male and was pronounced dead at the scene. The man was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and the motorcycle had no other occupants.

An investigation shows the motorcyclist was heading northbound on County Road S approaching 570th St. and the car was heading southbound, negotiating a curve at 570th St. to continue south. The motorcycle appeared to be turning onto 570th St. and crossed into the southbound lane of County Road S, into the path of the car and hitting the car.

The Dunn County Sheriff's Office identified the victim as 25-year-old Samuel Hayes of Wheeler, Wis. The driver of the vehicle involved has been identified as 19-year-old Nicole Sorenson of Wheeler, Wis. She was cited for operating a motor vehicle without insurance.

Crash investigators say Hayes traveled into Sorenson's lane of travel, failed to yield to Sorenson and hit her vehicle.
