Person Killed By Train In Winona Identified

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The woman who was struck and killed by a train in Winona Friday night has been identified.

Authorities said the woman was identified as Diane Marie Ristau or Winona.

According to police, the crash occurred just before 11 p.m. Neighbors gathered at the tracks after seeing flashing lights and hearing the train brake.

This is the third fatality at these tracks this year.

The first occurred in February when a 63-year-old man was killed as he tried to cross by crawling underneath some stopped cars. He was run over when the train started to move.

The second occurred in January. A 25-year-old man attempted to cross the tracks ahead of the train, but tripped and was killed.
