MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — One of the biggest fundraisers in the country is wrapping up this weekend in the Twin Cities.

Officials say participants in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day raised more than $1.4 million this year for breast cancer research. The money goes to research efforts, scientific programs and community-based breast health and education programs.

The three-day event featured a 60-mile walk for women and men pledging to put an end to breast cancer. The weekend event wraps up Sunday night with closing ceremonies at Harriet Island in St. Paul.

The event will return to the Twin Cities next year, Aug. 18-20.

  1. Dan Mack says:

We need more people like founder Nancy G. Brinker and greedy corporate sponsors to make millions off the gullible public. At least the pink spends its money preventing Obamacare paying for cancer screenings at family planing centers.

    1. Thomas Evenstad says:

Dan, I agree with you that we need more corporate involvement but I think you erroneously conclude that these sponsors are greedy. These folks are the job creators and do much good in our community. And how can you speak against anything that supports breast cancer research. As a gay man I am acutely aware of efforts to oppose progressive initiatives around the country and I can only hope that you can square your opposition with your creator. Tom

  2. May I simply say what a comfort to uncover someone who genuinely understands what
they are discussing online. You definitely realize how to
bring a problem to light and make it important.

A lot more people must look at this and understand this side of the story.
I was surprised you are not more popular given that you surely possess the gift.
