London Has Unfinished Business At East Ridge

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Maybe Dominik London is successful because he likes it at Woodbury's East Ridge High School, where the toughest part of the game is on the practice field.

"The preparation is pretty much everything you see in the season. Everything we do here is what's going to be on the field. And I just love the preparation. That's the best thing because you get the closest with the new teammates and the old teammates," London said.

It then translates to game night, where he is a rare combination -- or a coach's dream.

"He's actually been playing for four years … since he's a freshman, so it seems like he's been here forever," said East Ridge Football Coach Dan Fritze. "But he's just one of those kids that does everything, you know. In terms of a running back, he runs with power, he runs with speed, he has agility, we can split him out and throw him the ball, we can use him as a blocker. And so I think his versatility makes him great."

That is why he lives for those nights; he understands his body, and his body of work

"I would say I was dynamic. My low center of gravity is probably my best bet," London said. "My cutting ability in the open field, I think I can be pretty fast."

And he knows his future will include playing for Tracy Claeys as a Minnesota Gopher next season. He will be with the team for easy reasons.

"My family, it's easy to come see me play. I love the coaching staff, I have a lot of friends on the team that I'm looking forward to playing with," London said.

The here and now is he is trying to lead his team back to the state playoffs. The only certainty is that he will be in the middle of it.

"We're going to run the ball," said Coach Fritze. "We're going to find a way to run the ball, we're going to find a way to get him the ball."
