Gophers Women’s Basketball Gets 2 Powerhouses To Start Big Ten Play

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minnesota women’s basketball team has a tough start to Big Ten play with a trip to Ohio State and a home game against Maryland.

The conference schedule was announced Monday, and the Gophers get a pair of games with the perennial powers. They host Ohio State on Jan. 26 and finish the regular season at Maryland on Feb. 26. The Terrapins were ranked fifth and the Buckeyes finished ninth in the final 2015-16 Associated Press poll.

The Gophers also have two games against Michigan State, which finished in third place in the Big Ten last season. They host the Spartans on Jan. 30 and play the rematch on the road on Feb. 16.

Minnesota, which went 20-12 last season, hosts Harvard in the opener on Nov. 12.
