2 Charged In Drug Deal That Lead To Death Of Montrose Man

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Two people are accused of throwing a Montrose man from a truck – causing his death – after they robbed him during a drug deal Sunday.

Noelle Ziegelmann, 18, of St. Michael and James Striebel, 18, of Howard Lake have both been charged with second-degree murder and simple robbery, both felonies, in connection to the Aug. 28 incident.

According to the criminal complaint, both of the accused drove in a truck to meet up with a man, identified as 18-year-old Justin Harvey of Montrose, to buy marijuana. During the drug deal, Striebel allegedly asked if Ziegelmann, who was driving, could smell the marijuana.

When Striebel had possession of the marijuana, Ziegelmann allegedly floored the gas of the truck, accelerating rapidly. A witness told authorities that he saw Harvey hanging onto the side of the truck before being thrown from it.

Deputies treated Harvey at the scene. He died later at Hennepin County Medical Center from injuries suffered in the incident.

If convicted, both could face up to 40 years for the murder charge and up to 10 years on the simple robbery charge.
