MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Summer may be winding down, but festival season is still in full swing. If you’re “workin’ for the weekend,” there is a slew of celebrations to consider, all involving great food and music. One even caters to your dog.
James J. Hill Days
All aboard! This weekend join the Lake Minnetonka community in downtown Wayzata for the 42nd Annual James J. Hill Days. This three-day event offers fun for the whole family, including a carnival, craft beer tasting, street dancing, fireworks, and a parade on Sunday, featuring Olympic gold medal-winning swimmer David Plummer as grand marshal.
Parade of Homes
The fall 2016 Parade of Homes and Remodelers Showcase kicks off this weekend. It’s a great way to meet remodelers and see their work. Tour no fewer than 423 new homes around the Twin Cities beginning this Saturday and every weekend after until October.
Minneapolis Greek Festival
Get a taste of Greece at the Minneapolis Greek Festival. Experience authentic Greek food and live music. There’s also a 5K toga run and walk. Admission is free; bring three non-perishable food items in exchange for two free food tickets. All donations will be given to Joyce Food Shelf.
Linden Hills Woofstock
Finally, here is something for Fido. This Saturday is the Linden Hills Woofstock. Thousands of dogs and their owners will gather for live entertainment, a dog fashion show and, of course, the 12th annual Dog Trick Contest. Woofstock takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
