Megemeria, an international line of jewelry inspired by the struggles and hopes of immigration, is coming to Minneapolis.
Meaning new beginning in the Ethiopian language of Amharic, Megemeria offers unique pieces inspired by personal and collective journeys made by the immigrants who create them. The pieces signify longing, renewal, and yearning of their journeys.
Introducing the line to the Twin Cities is Megemeria’s Daniel Sahalo. Thirty years ago, at the age of five, Daniel made the arduous journey to Israel on foot from northern Ethiopia. Walking through the desert at night for eight weeks, his family braved robbers, wild animals, and hunger in the cold desert.
