Bear Menacing Big Lake Residents

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Authorities are warning residents in the Big Lake area of a bear that has been milling about over the last few days.

According to the Department of Natural Resources and the Big Lake Police Department, people in the area should keep their distance.

Authorities also suggested people remove bird and wildlife feeders from their yards.

Police also asked Big Lake residents to report any sightings, as “the last couple times they have appeared we have been successful in nudging them out of the city.”

  1. The bear doesn’t look like a threat to me. Maybe to peoples bird feeders but not themselves.
There have been bears in the past in the surrounding area. They are drawn by easy food. If one enters your tent you could be in real trouble. they have visited us twice in recent years even coming onto our deck. The only thing they “attacked was our bird feeders.
i would rather deal with a bear than a skunk, any day.
I hope someone doesn’t lose control of them self and hurt the bear.
It could be removed humanely and returned to a more natural setting, like my place.
