Report: Vikings Super Fan, 'Sir Death', Arrested After Major Drug Bust

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A Minnesota Vikings super fan, known as "Sir Death", faces drug charges after he was allegedly connected to hundreds of pounds of marijuana earlier this month, according to a report.

Karl R. Heinrichs, 44, of Stillwater was charged in St. Croix County Circuit Court felony THC possession with the intent to deliver.

On Sept. 8, 2016, a tip led Washington County investigators to Heinrichs' home. A search warrant was executed at his residence where 153 grams of marijuana and marijuana wax was reportedly discovered.

Later, investigators followed Heinrichs to his home where they watched him transfer a Vikings cooler and a black bag into a Jeep parked there. The Jeep was stopped by authorities and a search of the vehicle turned up more than 31 pounds of marijuana and nine pounds of marijuana wax.

Heinrichs was later arrested and admitted to storing more pot in a storage unit in Houlton, Wisconsin. Authorities later seized more than 134 pounds of suspected marijuana from that that storage unit, which Heinrichs rented.

Heinrichs told authorities he used the drug money to buy Vikings season tickets and merchandise, pinball machines, arcade games and tattoos.

Heinrichs is a member of the Vikings World Order -- which is a group of about 300 hardcore fans.

David 'Diggz" Garza is a member of the group, and was among those expressing surprise and disappointment over Heinrichs' arrest.

"We still love Karl. He's a great friend. I think he's still a great human being," Garza said on his Facebook page. "As soon as we found out, Syd (Davey) made the difficult decision of having to let Karl go from the VWO."

Dave Gunderson, known as Viking Dave, was one of the first members of the VWO. He did not want to talk about Heinrichs, but said he too is shocked. And he does not want Wednesday's news to take away from all the good his organization does.

"We don't know everything about everything. It's pretty obvious we don't know everything about everything," Gunderson said. "[VWO] became a fan club and now it's more like a charity. It's always been about helping out the community. It's always been about the Minnesota Vikings."

Heinrichs makes his first appearance in Washington County on Oct. 17.
