St. Paul Police Investigating Stabbing Death; 1 Arrested

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- St. Paul police say one man is in custody and another man is dead after being stabbed early Friday morning.

According to police, they received a call just before 2 a.m. of a suspicious death at an apartment on the 400 block of Grand Avenue in St. Paul. There, an adult male with at least one stab wound was found.

The victim, later identified as 28-year-old Gerald Joseph Montates, was taken to Regions Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Early Friday afternoon, police announced that a man identified as 25-year-old Maxim Kenneth Rhone of St. Paul has arrested in connection to the homicide.

The fatal stabbing marks the 13th homicide this year in St. Paul. Nine of 12 other cases have already been solved through arrests, police said.

The investigation is active.
