After Heavy Rains, Dayton Issues Emergency Order

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Gov. Mark Dayton is declaring an executive order to help combat flooding damage from heavy rains across Minnesota.

That rain struck Sept. 21, damaging infrastructure and properties in more than 20 counties in central and southern Minnesota. Dayton's emergency executive order signed Tuesday directs several state agencies to assist in the cleanup and repairs.

Those heavy rains hammered Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa and other parts of the Midwest. Up to 10 inches of rain were recorded in the region.

Hundreds of residents in Waseca and St. Clair have reported property damage.
