Man, 37, Hospitalized After Corn Picking Machine Crushes Hand

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A central Minnesota man was hospitalized Saturday after his hand was caught in a corn picking machine.

According to the Wright County sheriff, a 37-year-old man from Watkins, Minnesota, was picking corn when his machine got plugged. When he tried to remove debris from the machine, his hand was caught in the rollers.

The rollers crushed the man's hand, the sheriff said. A farmer who works with the man found him and called police.

Authorities from Cokato, Minnesota, responded. Removing the man's hand from the machine took an hour and a half as they dismantled a part of the machine to separate the rollers.

The man was airlifted to Hennepin County Medical Center with injuries that are believed to be non-life threatening, the sheriff said.
