2 Injured After Car Swerves Into Ditch, Bursts Into Flames In Stearns County

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) --- Two teenage boys were injured in a single-car crash that left their vehicle engulfed in flames.

According to the Stearns County Sheriff's office, two young men -- ages 17 and 18 -- were headed south on 253rd Avenue at around 12:45 a.m. Sunday morning. When the car was turning left onto 180th Street, the driver lost control and drove into the ditch, hitting several trees before getting stuck in a ravine.

Authorities say both boys were wearing seatbelts and were able to exit the vehicle before it burst into flames. First responders transported the boys to Paynesville Hospital where they were treated for their injuries. The car was a total loss.

The Stearns County Sheriff's office says it appears the vehicle's speed contributed to the crash.
