7-Year-Old Minnesota Boy Hit By Car And Killed While Waiting For School Bus

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A Minnesota boy is dead after being hit by a car and killed while waiting for the school bus in Pennington County Thursday morning.

The Minnesota State Patrol says it happened at around 7:05 a.m. on Highway 59 in Thief River Falls. Anthony Fellman, 7, was crossing the street to catch the school bus when a 69-year-old woman driving a 2005 Chrysler Town and Country hit him on the east side of the road.

KVLY reports the boy was a second grader at Challenger Elementary in Thief River Falls.

The Thief River Falls Public School District posted a statement in response to the boy's death:

Our hearts are heavy as we mourn the loss of a Challenger Elementary second-grader, following a pedestrian accident the morning of Thursday, October 6th. Our deepest sympathies go out to the family and the community.

The District will have counselors available to meet with staff and students over the next few days.
