Suspect In Custody After Police Chase In West Metro

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A suspect is in custody after leading police on a chase through multiple cities in the west metro Saturday night.

According to police, the chase began in Hopkins when an officer attempted to stop a suspect with multiple felony warrants out who they believed was armed.

The suspect fled, leading officers through Hopkins to Eden Prairie. It ended at Minnetonka Boulevard when the suspect exited Interstate 494, crossed the median and struck a van entering the freeway. The suspect surrendered because his path was blocked, police said.

No one was injured in the chase. A squad car was damaged when the suspect intentionally rammed his vehicle into it, police said.

Hopkins, Eden Prairie and Minnetonka police were involved in the chase, as well as State Patrol.

The chase lasted just over 10 minutes. Police said the suspect will likely receive additional felony charges from the chase.
