Bob Dylan (Sort Of) Responds To Nobel Prize Win

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Bob Dylan hasn't been too cute to the Swedish Academy after winning the Nobel prize in literature last week.

On Monday, the bestowers of the prestigious literary prize said they'd given up trying to reach the Minnesota-born bard, who, they allege, wasn't returning their messages.

The Swedish Academy awarded Dylan the prize last Thursday for his "having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition." He was the first musician ever to receive the accolade.

And, even though Dylan was playing shows last week, the troubadour hadn't publicly acknowledged that he'd won the prize. Even a week later, he still hasn't even released a statement.

However, what has changed is his official website, which now boasts that Dylan is the "winner of the Nobel prize in literature" in a post on one of the musician's lyric books.

That Dylan would keep quiet on the Nobel win is not entirely surprising. He rarely gives interviews.

Meanwhile, the Swedish Academy is still hoping that the 75-year-old Dylan, born Robert Zimmerman in Duluth, turns up for the award ceremony.
