More Allegations Against Edina Man Charged In UW Madison Sexual Assault

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO/AP) – An Edina man charged with sexually assaulting a fellow student at the University of Wisconsin Madison is now facing allegations from dozens of other women.

Wisconsin police took 20-year-old Alec Cook into custody last week after a woman said he attacked her inside his apartment.

Since then, dozens of other women have come forward with information on Cook.

According to search warrants, police seized a journal from Cook's apartment that contained a list of women. Police said each entry detailed how Cook met them, what he liked about them and disturbing details describing sexual assault.

Cook is facing nine criminal charges, including strangulation and false imprisonment, after the acquaintance said he assaulted her and choked her at his apartment Oct. 12.

Cook has denied the charges filed against him. His attorney, Christopher Van Wagner, said prosecutors will have a hard time proving some of the allegations.

UW-Madison has suspended Cook and banned him from school property. Prosecutors said he may face more charges.

Cook is scheduled to be back in court Thursday.
