Minnesotans Savoring Fall #Top10WxDay

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- All across Minnesota, families were out enjoying the weather in ways they normally couldn't in November.

On lunch break at Como Park Golf Course, Jason Alain tries his best each day to hit a few balls.

"It's just good to be out when its this nice," he said. "The weather has been fantastic for this. so that's what I do Monday through Friday."

It's a lunch break likely to make a few people jealous -- then add a #Top10WxDay into the mix.

"You know, it's Minnesota, so you can get that blizzard on Halloween, so I will take it right now," Jason said.

The Assef family tried to spend as much time as possible outdoors in the Twin Cities.

"We were just talking about that on the way up. Usually there are more leaves that have fallen by now. It's a lot colder," Anna Assef said. "We are actually from down in Rochester. Just with the beautiful weather, we decided it would be a good day to visit the zoo."

Others, meanwhile, took the day's beautiful weather as an opportunity to get a few things done while they still have the chance.

"I'm raking leave getting ready for the winter," Perry Woodberry said. "I get up and run every morning. I do six miles -- been doing that 40 years."

He's spending the day reluctantly raking, but a Top Ten Weather Day is a good day to pick.

"It's gorgeous -- I can't remember this type of weather since I've been living in Minnesota," Perry said.

Even with so many leaves on the ground, there's still a perfect backdrop for a day off from school for 10-year-old Gavin and his 6-year-old brother Julian.

"We are going fishing for muskies and northerns," Gavin said. "We've been here before. It's been really windy. It's not been nice -- your poles are just blowing over, and that's not fun because you have to run and pick it up every time."

Grateful for a teacher workshop day -- one of many Minnesotans making the most of these last warm days of fall.
