Police: 1 Dead After Car Struck By Train In Elk River

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- One person is dead after a collision between a train and car in Elk River Tuesday evening.

According to Elk River police, the accident happened at 171st Street on the railroad tracks near Elk River Train Station.

There were three people inside the car. One of the occupants died and two other victims were taken to the hospital.

Police are calling it driver error and say the car went around the arm that was down at the train crossing.

Elk River police are expected to release an update later Tuesday evening.
