Truck Driver Accused Of Stealing Packages Containing Meds From VA

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A Mankato truck driver is accused of stealing packages containing medication intended for patients of the Veterans Administration, according to a report from the Minnesota River Valley Drug Task Force.

Agents say Robert James Sullivan, 52, was arrested Tuesday without incident in Blue Earth County.

According to a press release from the task force, the investigation began when officials from the U.S. Postal Service reported missing packages from a sorting facility in Mankato. The packages in question were shipped from the VA and were supposed to be delivered to Fairmont, Minnesota via a Mankato trucking company that is contracted to deliver the mail there.

Investigators say Sullivan was a driver with that company, and they determined that he had stolen the medications at least three times.

Authorities say Sullivan cooperated with the agents and some of the medications were recovered. The Blue Earth County Attorney's office is reviewing the case to determine which charges to file.
