Dog Missing For Weeks After Crash Reunited With Family

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A dog that went missing last month after being ejected in a car crash was found safe this week and reunited with its family.

Zoey, an 8-year-old Golden Retriever who belongs to the Ahlgren family of Maple Grove, was found Monday near Milaca, the family told the Mille Lacs County Animal Control.

Searches for Zoey had been underway since a Nov. 18 car crash on Interstate 169 just north of Milaca. Joey was not wearing a collar when he was unexpectedly unleashed into the winter cold.

According to GoMN.com, the family and volunteer searchers in the Milaca area put out food and clothing with the family's scent in hopes of luring Zoey. On Monday, the dog was found on a pile of clothes.

The Golden Retriever was missing for more than two weeks. The family told search groups that Zoey was given a bath Monday and that a vet appointment is scheduled for this week.
