Group Rallies In Minneapolis To Speak Out Against Gun Violence

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A group gathered in Minneapolis on Sunday to speak out against gun violence.

The group met at Dickman Park Sunday afternoon and marched to Boom Island Park downtown. There, some of the demonstrators shared stories about how gun violence has impacted their lives.

The family of Birdell Beeks was there. Beeks died back in May after a stray bullet hit her while she was sitting in her minivan with her teenage granddaughter.

"We should be able to allow our kids to play. People should be able to walk into buildings without worrying about whether or not they're going to be shot or shot at or get caught in gunfire," one protester said.

Police are still looking for the person responsible for the death of Birdell Beeks.
