Motorist Killed In Lake Of The Woods Head-On Crash

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 46-year-old man was killed in a head-on collision in Lake of the Woods County this weekend.

The crash happened along Highway 11 near Williams at about 8 a.m.

A Chevrolet GMT 400 was heading east on the highway and crossed the center line, crashing into a Ford Escape driving the opposite direction.

The driver of the Chevrolet truck died as a result of the crash. He was identified by the State Patrol as Patrick Lee Owens of Redby.

The driver of the other vehicle -- 60-year-old Sherry Lein, of Williams -- sustained non-life threatening injuries.

It was not immediately clear what caused Owens' vehicle to cross into oncoming traffic, but the State Patrol said road conditions were dry at the time of the incident.
