Police: Plane Landed In Blaine Due To Engine Trouble

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities say a plane that landed on a Blaine roadway Sunday afternoon had to do so due to engine trouble.

The Blaine Police Department was called to the scene on Main Street near Harpers Street NE at about 3:30 p.m. Sunday. Authorities say the pilot was flying his plane, a 1975 Bellanca 17-30, from Hibbing to the Flying Cloud Airport when he started experiencing engine trouble. The engine seized up and he had to make an emergency landing.

A report of the incident shows the plane came to rest in the eastbound lanes of Harpers Street NE. Authorities say the plane hit two highway signs with the left wing during the emergency landing. The plane, which had minor damage, was towed to the Blaine Airport.

Nobody was hurt in the incident.
