State Patrol: Woman Dead After Truck Strikes Deer, Hits Her Vehicle Head-On

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A woman is dead after a truck struck a deer and collided with her vehicle head-on in northern Minnesota Monday evening.

The crash occurred just after 8 p.m. on Highway 1 near County Road 20 in Pennington County, according to Minnesota State Patrol.

Sandra Swanson, 71, was on the highway in her Chevrolet Blazer. A Ford truck driven by 21-year-old Alexander Schmidt struck a deer and crossed over the center line. The truck struck Swanson's vehicle head-on.

Swanson was killed in the crash, State Patrol said. Schmidt received non-life threatening injuries.
