Fire Leaves 1 Dead At Wayzata Apartment

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities say at least one person died Wednesday in a fire at an apartment in the west Twin Cities metro.

Crews responded to a report of a fire at the apartment Wednesday afternoon, located at 426 Rice Street in Wayzata.

Wayzata Police Chief Mike Risvold confirmed that there is one fatality associated with the fire. The victim was identified as 69-year-old Daniel Lee Martin. According to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner he is the resident of the apartment and died of injuries resulting from the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
