St. Thomas Student Killed In Car Crash Mourned At Tommie-Johnnie Game

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — A moment of silence was held Saturday at Target Field for a University of St. Thomas student who died in a car crash last weekend.

Twenty-year-old Ria Patel was laid to rest Saturday. She was a junior at St. Thomas.

Patel was killed in a car crash early Sunday in Minneapolis. Prosecutors say her boyfriend, Michael Campbell, drove into a light pole on Stinson Boulevard and ran off.

He was found two days later. Campbell has been charged with criminal vehicular homicide.
