Cyclist Critically Injured After Hit-And-Run In St. Paul

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – St. Paul police are asking the public's help in finding the driver who struck a cyclist early Sunday morning, sending him to the hospital with grave injuries.

The St. Paul Police Department says the hit-and-run happened shortly after midnight at the intersection of 7th Street West and Grand Avenue.

Witnesses said the cyclist – who had a light on his bike – was traveling in the intersection with the right of way when he was struck by an SUV that ran a red light.

Responding officers found the cyclist unconscious in the street, suffering from serious injuries. Emergency crews brought him to Regions Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.

Police say they have yet to identify the victim. Investigators are working to locate the man's family and friends.

Police are also looking for the SUV's driver. Witnesses described the vehicle as being tan-colored with possible front-end damage.

Anyone with information on the SUV or the victim's identify is asked to call investigators at 651-291-1111.
