Elderly Woman Succumbs To Injuries In St. Paul House Fire

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- An elderly woman has succumbed to injuries suffered in a house fire in St. Paul overnight.

According to the St. Paul Fire Department, crews responded at 1:45 a.m. Thursday to the fire report on the 1800 block of Lacrosse Avenue. Fire officials say there were heavy flames by the time they arrived, and flames coming through the front door.

Once inside, firefighters found an unconscious woman. Resuscitation efforts were immediately performed, and she was taken to Regions Hospital in serious condition. After 30 minutes of continued CPR at the hospital, the victim died.

A firefighter was also taken to the hospital with minor burns. He was evaluated and released.

The origin and cause of fire is being investigated, as well as the victim's cause of death.
