State Patrol: 289 Crashes, 31 Injuries During Friday Snowfall

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Flakes started falling Friday afternoon, making for a messy commute.

The Minnesota State Patrol says there have been 289 crashes and 117 spinouts since midnight statewide. Thirty-one people were injured.

Two state troopers were also involved in separate accidents Friday.

Minnesota Department of Transportation cameras captured a harrowing moment for two drivers on Interstate 94 near Highway 280 Friday night near Minneapolis. A car spun out, causing it to face on-coming traffic. Cars were forced to dodge the vehicle –- and one even bounced off of it into neighboring lanes.

Rescue crews eventually arrived on scene to help the driver out of the vehicle.

Along with Friday's snow comes more cold. WCCO Meteorologist Chris Shaffer says temperatures are going to fall to dangerous levels as we hit the holiday weekend.
