For more than half a century, Ames Construction has been delivering quality construction services to our customers. Founded in 1962, the company started as a small, family-run earthwork contractor that served its community. Today, Ames has grown into a full-service, heavy civil and industrial general contractor that serves customers throughout North America, with proven ability to self-perform and produce quality work safely, on-time and within budget.

Ames Construction remains a family-owned enterprise, deeply rooted in a strong work ethic that values business relationships built on honesty, performance and mutual trust. We understand that our past success is a direct result of performing to the best of our ability, every day on every project.

We are proud of our accomplishments, and are committed to upholding our reputation and tradition of providing superior construction services to our customers into the 21st century and beyond.

Richard J. Ames, founder of Ames Construction:
Richard “Dick” Ames established Ames Construction in 1962. Within months, one brother joined him in the business followed by their three younger brothers over the next six years, making Ames a family-owned enterprise. Founded on the principle that success comes from relationships grounded in honesty, performance and mutual trust, Dick lives by this principle every day in both business and his personal life.

As Ames Construction grew, Dick dedicated more time to giving back to the communities that had served him over the years. He has focused much of his energy in support of the Scott County Fair, which takes place annually at the end of July. He gives countless hours of his time to promote, run and expand the Fair. Through his dedication and enthusiastic support, the Scott County Fair has grown into a successful event where local communities relax together, learn together and grow together.
