Kuemper Stops 26 Shots In Wild Shutout Of Coyotes

Darcy Kuemper made 26 saves for his third shutout of the season, and defenseman Jared Spurgeon had two assists to lead the Minnesota Wild past the Arizona Coyotes 2-0 on Thursday night. Kuemper has allowed just two goals in four starts, and has all three of Minnesota’s victories this season. Arizona’s Mike Smith entered the game having allowed at least four goals in each of his three starts this season. But he stopped 27 of 29 shots and blanked the Wild for all but a three-minute stretch early in the second period.

Ducks Rally Past Wild 2-1 For 4th Straight Win

After 44 frustrating minutes of scoreless hockey against the stingy Minnesota Wild, only one thought came to Andrew Cogliano when he broke in alone on goalie Darcy Kuemper. “Yeah, I’d better score now,” the speedy Ducks forward said. Cogliano did it, and Corey Perry did it again later in the Ducks’ dynamic third-period rally.

Jordan Leopold scored the tiebreaking goal at 5:33 of the third period, leading the St. Louis Blues to a 4-1 victory over the Minnesota Wild on Thursday night. Leopold scored off an assist from Vladimir Tarasenko, who passed it to Leopold in the right circle for a one-timer high into the net.

Sutter Scores In OT, Penguins Beat Wild 3-2

Brandon Sutter scored his second goal of the game 2:23 into overtime to give the Pittsburgh Penguins a 3-2 exhibition victory over the Minnesota Wild on Thursday night. Sutter beat Ilya Bryzgalov with a backhander in overtime. Sutter opened the scoring in the first period with a power-play goal. Oskar Sundqvist also scored for Pittsburgh (1-2-0).

Grieving Suter Glad To Be Back On Ice With Wild

Training camp for Ryan Suter will be more than a tuneup for the season. Practicing with the Minnesota Wild will bring respite. Suter’s father, a Wild scout and former U.S. Olympic team member, died Sept. 9 of a heart attack. Bob Suter was 57.

‘Miracle On Ice’ Member Bob Suter Dies

Bob Suter, a member of the “Miracle On Ice” team that won the Olympic gold medal in 1980 and the father of Minnesota Wild star Ryan Suter, died Tuesday at the age of 57. The Wild announced Suter’s death and called him “a great hockey ambassador, he was a terrific person off the ice who will be greatly missed.” The team did not disclose other details.

Wild Play Exhibitions Vs. Jets, Penguins, Blues

The Minnesota Wild have finalized their slate of six exhibition games prior to the upcoming season. The Wild announced Wednesday they’ll play tuneups against Winnipeg, Pittsburgh and St. Louis twice each, once at home and once on the road. The first preseason contest is Sept. 22 at Winnipeg, followed by a Sept. 25 game at Pittsburgh. The Wild host the Jets on Sept. 27 and the Penguins on Sept. 29.
