Timberwolves Deal Grizzlies Tough Loss, 102-88

Kevin Love had 24 points, 16 rebounds and 10 assists for his third career triple-double and the Minnesota Timberwolves dealt the Memphis Grizzlies a loss they could ill afford in a 102-88 victory on Wednesday night. Ricky Rubio had 14 points, seven assists and three steals and Kevin Martin scored 21 points for the Timberwolves, who are trying to play spoiler down the stretch of what has been a disappointing season.

Gorgui Dieng Named Western Conference Rookie Of The Month

With playoff hopes all but eliminated for the Minnesota Timberwolves, Gorgui Dieng has been getting more playing time and it’s paying dividends. Dieng was named the NBA’s Western Conference Rookie of the Month for March on Tuesday, becoming the fifth player in Timberwolves history to earn the award.

Minnesota Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor has signed a letter of intent to buy the Minneapolis Star Tribune. Now, one of Minnesota’s richest men has 60 days to put together the deal for Minnesota’s largest newspaper.

Blake-less Clippers Beat Timberwolves 114-104

Darren Collison had 28 points and seven assists, and the Los Angeles Clippers didn’t miss a beat with Blake Griffin out with a back injury in a 114-104 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday night. Chris Paul had 22 points, nine assists and seven rebounds, and Matt Barnes scored 19 points for the Clippers (53-22). Griffin, the team’s leading scorer, warmed up before the game but wasn’t quite ready after being injured on Saturday night against Houston.

Gorgui Dieng had 15 points and 15 rebounds to continue his out-of-nowhere emergence and the Minnesota Timberwolves dealt the slumping Atlanta Hawks another costly loss with a 107-83 victory. Corey Brewer and Kevin Martin each scored 18 points and Kevin Love had 14 points and 12 rebounds for the Timberwolves. Minnesota scored 32 points off 26 Hawks turnovers and blew the game open in the second half.

Sacramento center DeMarcus Cousins was scratched from the Kings’ game Sunday night against Minnesota because of tendinitis in his right knee. Cousins played in the game against Chicago on Saturday night, scoring 25 points and grabbing 14 rebounds in the loss to the Bulls.
