Shane Kitzman joined WCCO as a Web Producer in April 2012.

A native of Northfield, Minn. – you know, where the infamous bank robber Jesse James was thwarted – Shane graduated from the University of St. Thomas in 2010 with a degree in journalism.

While at St. Thomas, Shane was the editor-in-chief of the student newspaper, The Aquin. He also became the director of the new student media endeavor, TommieMedia.com, which focused on 24/7 journalism and multimedia reporting. During the summer of 2009, he interned at the Rochester Post-Bulletin.

After graduation, Shane headed back home, briefly covering news for his hometown newspaper, before being promoted to Sports Editor of the Northfield News and covering Division III sports and prep athletics. Selected as the Associated Press New Journalist of the Year in Minnesota in 2009-10, his sports stories, photos and videos have won numerous state press awards and his feature writing has garnered national honors.

So what’s Shane up to now? Finding the best sports stories in the state and featuring them through his column “Beyond Bounds.”
