Spec. Daniel James McConnell, 27, of Duluth, Minn, died in Kirkuk, Iraq, when he was involved in a vehicle accident. His family says the accident was not combat-related. He was assigned to the 27th Infantry, 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. He left behind two daughters, ages two and five.

Cpl. Tyler R. Fey, 22, of Eden Prairie, Minn., died in Al Abar Province, Iraq due to injuries received from hostile fire. He was assigned to 1st Combate Engineer Battalion, 1st Marine Division, 1 Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, CA.

Cpl. Demetrius Lamont Rice

Cpl. Demetrius L. Rice, 24, of Ortonville, Minn. was one of two soldiers who died in Talafar, Iraq, on July 14, 2004 when their vehicle rolled over as the driver tried to avoid another vehicle. The two soldiers were assigned to the army's 5th Battalion, 20th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, from Fort Lewis, Wash.

Chief Warrant Officer Patrick D. Dorff

Chief Warrant Officer Patrick Dorff, 32, of Buffalo, Minn., died near Mosul, Iraq, on Jan. 25, 2004 when his chopper went down into the Tigris River while conducting a search-and-rescue mission after four soldiers' watercraft capsized. Dorff was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 10th Aviation (Fort Drum); However, in support of mission requirements, he was attached to the 3rd Squadron, 17th Cavalry, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, NY.

Staff Sgt. Brian R. Hellermann, 35, from Freeport, died Aug. 6, 2003, when an Iraqi vehicle opened fire on his unit in Baghdad.

Staff Sgt. Dale A. Panchot

Staff Sgt. Dale A. Panchot, 26 of Northome, Minn., died south of Balad, Iraq, on Nov. 17, 2003 when his vehicle was struck by enemy rocket and small arms fire while on patrol. He was assigned to B Company, 1st Battalion, 8th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division (Mech), Fort Carson, CO.

Pfc. Edward Herrgott

Pfc. Edward j. Herrgott, 20, of Shakopee, Minn. died in Bahgdad, Iraq, when a sniper shot him in the neck outside the national museum. He died July 3, 2003 from a gunshot wound while on patrol. He was assigned to the 1-36th Infantry Regiment, 1st Armored Division, Wiesbaden, Germany.
