A Fridley man is charged with the attempted murder of his fiancée after cutting her throat Saturday morning, according to the Anoka County Attorney’s Office. James Mitchell Bruins-Ahlers, 22, was charged Tuesday with one count each of attempted second-degree murder, second-degree assault and domestic assault.
Police officers subdued a 22-year-old man who began to cut his own throat after he was suspected of brutally assaulting his girlfriend Saturday. Fridley Police responded to reports of a domestic situation at 6373 Pierce St. NE, and encountered 22-year-old James Ahlers, who began to cut his throat before officers intervened.
A Brooklyn Center man is pleading guilty to first-degree criminal sexual conduct after he impersonated a police detective, abducted a woman and sexually assaulted her, according to the criminal complaint. Gideon Charles Arrington, 36, posed as a detective on the afternoon of Nov. 23 and approached a woman on the street near the 6400 block of 5th Street NE in Fridley, according to the Anoka County Attorney’s office.

A Minneapolis woman was charged with two counts of arson after setting two fires inside of a Blaine Walmart store early Monday morning in order to cause a diversion while shoplifting.
