Lightning is responsible for injuring a woman and starting a house fire in two separate incidents Saturday afternoon in Ham Lake, according to the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities received reports of lightning striking a woman at 2:45 p.m. at Lions Park at 155th Avenue and Central Avenue.
Authorities said the owners of an RV that was rented to a group who found a dead body inside are not considered suspects in the man’s death.
Investigators have identified the body that was found in a compartment of a rented RV on Friday in Winona, Minn. as an Anoka man who’s been missing since last November. According to the Anoka County Sheriff’s office, 22-year-old Kevin Casserly was found by 10 friends who had rented an RV from a man in Anoka.
Police are investigating after a group who had rented an RV from a private party in Anoka County found a dead body inside a storage compartment in Winona. The Anoka County Sheriff’s Office received the report at about 11:15 p.m. Thursday from the Winona Police Department.
Authorities said one person is dead after a house fire in Columbia Heights Tuesday night. Crews responded to the 1000 block of 44 ½ Avenue at about 8:38p.m. on a report of a house fire.
Authorities said a man who impersonated a police officer and allegedly sexually assaulted a woman in Anoka County has been arrested. The Anoka County Sheriff’s Office said the incident took place at about 1 p.m. on Nov. 23 on the 6400 block of 5th Street NE in Fridley.
A 44-year-old Ramsey man is accused of criminal sexual conduct involving several children after he mentored them through the “Big Brothers” organization in the north Twin Cities metro, according to charges filed by the Anoka County attorney.
Three men, one armed with a gun, are still at large after robbing a Fridley bank Thursday evening. According to the FBI’s Minneapolis field office, three men entered the TCF Bank at 52050 Central Ave. NE at 7:00 p.m. All three approached the main counter and demanded money. One man was armed with a handgun. The robbers left with an undisclosed amount of money and fled southbound on Central Avenue. Witnesses believe they were in a gray passenger vehicle. All three men wore black masks. Two were wearing dark clothing, while the third wore a white jumpsuit.
Authorities in Andover are looking for at least one suspect after a string of arson fires in the city over the last three days. Authorities said fires have been intentionally set to both occupied and unoccupied single family homes that are concentrated to one neighborhood in Andover.
A body was removed from the Mississippi River on Sunday near Riverfront Park in Fridley, according to the Anoka County Sheriff’s office. Authorities say the body of an adult male was spotted by a person in a canoe at 2 p.m. near the river’s shore, close to the 5200 block of East River Road. The body was recovered by the Anoka County dive team, and turned over to the Anoka County Medical Examiner’s office. The sheriff’s office says no foul play is suspected.
One person was killed Monday night after a car rear-ended a Metro Transit bus in the north Twin Cities metro, according to the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities responded to the area of Highway 65 and 89th Avenue NE in Blaine at about 5:38 p.m. Monday on a report of a three-vehicle crash.
A 40-year-old Forest Lake man died Friday afternoon in Oak Grove when his motorcycle collided with a car at an intersection, authorities said. The Anoka County Sheriff’s Office said the incident took place at 5:08 p.m. at the intersection of Vikings Boulevard and University Avenue.
A 22-year-old man from Nowthen is accused of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl multiple times over the course of one day, according to charges filed Tuesday in Anoka County Court. Kelly Eugene Jenkins was charged by the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office with three felony counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct in connection with the incident, which happened Aug. 13.
One person was killed and another was hurt after one-vehicle crash in Circle Pines north of the metro early Sunday morning, according to the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators are looking for the public’s help in finding three people believed to be wedding day thieves. Video surveillance gave police a good look at the two people who invited themselves to Jesse and Jill Goembel’s special day at Edinburgh Country Club in Brooklyn Park.
