Good Samaritan Rescues Mother, Infant From St. Paul Blaze

A Good Samaritan saved a mother and child from a raging house fire in St. Paul Monday night, and investigators believe it was a clear case of arson. Rick Johann was able to rescue the woman and her 7-month-old infant girl through a window.

A couple out for a walk saved a woman and her baby trapped by a fire in St. Paul, Minn. Monday night. The fire was on the 1200 block of Albemarle Street in St. Paul. Investigators say the cause was arson.

Fire That Damaged Duluth Park Appears Intentional

Duluth fire officials say a fire that caused about $75,000 in damage to a park building and portable toilet appears to have been intentionally set. The fire was reported early Sunday, just after midnight. A caller reported that a portable toilet in Lincoln Park was on fire.

A 23-year-old Farmington man faces arson and theft charges after police say he left an iPod in a truck he burglarized and set on fire. Glenn Adam Smith is charged with one count of arson and one count of theft, stemming from an incident last Wednesday.

Teen Allegedly Starts Forest Fire Because Mosquitoes Were Bugging Him

A Cass County teen has been charged with felony wildlife arson after intentionally setting a blaze Wednesday that damaged over 70 acres and endangered several homes. Anthony James Wittner, 17, told investigators he started a forest fire because mosquitoes were bothering him, according to the Cass County Attorney’s Office.

Authorities Suspect Wildfire Was Intentionally Set

Authorities suspect a wildfire in Cass County that caused an evacuation and a heavy firefighting response was intentionally set. The sheriff’s department says ten homes were evacuated Wednesday afternoon when the fast-moving fire burned about 76 acres near Cass Lake.

Teen Charged With Setting 2 Fires In Walmart To Mask Shoplifting

A Minneapolis woman was charged with two counts of arson after setting two fires inside of a Blaine Walmart store early Monday morning in order to cause a diversion while shoplifting. Rachael Howard Robinson, 19, was charged with one count each of first- and second-degree arson for an incident that took place just before 12:30 a.m. at the Walmart at 11505 Ulysses Street NE, according to the Anoka County Attorney’s office.

Arsonist Attacks St. Paul Bar Again

A St. Paul bar was set on fire, and it was all caught on camera. On Jan. 10, someone intentionally started the Mounds Park Lounge on fire, which caused extensive damage inside the building. Owner Bill Spiess hopes the public recognizes the person captured in the surveillance video and alerts authorities. “It’s devastating, it really is,” Spiess said.

New Law Means New Penalties For Minn. Arsonists

Costly-to-fight wildfires that are intentionally set in Minnesota will soon carry tougher penalties under a new law. The enhanced arson law was passed in May and goes live on Thursday. It builds off an existing wildfire arson law.
