The temperatures have been lower and the crowds bigger at “the Great Minnesota Get-Together,” at least for the last few days. The Minnesota State Fair set an attendance record Tuesday and fell a few thousand short of another record on Wednesday.
A record number of people came to the Minnesota State Fair on Tuesday. The fair reported that 133,595 people came through the gates on Tuesday. The previous Tuesday record was 129,423, which happened in 2009.
The national semifinals drew 79,444 AT&T Stadium, beating the previous record of 78,129 when Kentucky beat Michigan State in a regular-season game at Ford Field in Detroit on Dec. 13, 2003.
Celebrating a resurgence of racing, Canterbury Park wrapped up one of its most successful seasons in its colorful history. Over the course of 69 days, attendance and handle, which is the amount of money bet on Canterbury races, rose to the highest levels since 1995.

And with the arrival of cooler temperatures, the big crowds have been making a late appearance. Sunday’s official attendance was 236,197. That set the record for the largest single-day attendance in the State Fair’s history.
The hot and humid conditions, at least so far, aren’t keeping people from going to the Minnesota State Fair. Officials released attendance numbers for the first three days and so far, the numbers are all up from the same days last year.
