Dylan’s ‘Like a Rolling Stone’ Draft Sells For $2M

One of the most popular songs of all time, Bob Dylan’s “Like a Rolling Stone,” could bring $1 million to $2 million at auction. A working draft of the finished song in Dylan’s own hand is being offered by Sotheby’s on Tuesday. The draft is written in pencil on four sheets of hotel letterhead stationery with revisions, additions, notes and doodles: a hat, a bird, an animal with antlers.

‘Miracle On Ice’ Gold Medal Auctioned For $262,900

An Olympic gold medal earned by a player on the “Miracle on Ice” 1980 U.S. Olympic team has been auctioned for nearly $263,000. It belonged to Mark Pavelich, who had the assist on Mike Eruzione’s game-winning goal for Team USA against the Soviet Union.

Benefit Held For Man Killed In Snorkeling Accident

A benefit was held Saturday night for the family of a man killed during a snorkeling accident in Puerto Rico. The Medina Entertainment Center held the event to honor 30-year-old Matt Elmore, who drowned one day before his 31st birthday in December. He leaves behind a wife and three sons. All the proceeds from the event, which included live and silent auctions, will benefit Elmore’s family.

Bob Dylan’s Electric Guitar Sells For Nearly $1M

The Fender Stratocaster that Bob Dylan plugged in when he famously went electric at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival sold Friday for nearly $1 million — the highest price ever paid for a guitar at auction. Christie’s auction house did not immediately identify the absentee buyer who agreed to pay $965,000 for the sunburst-finish guitar.
