Horst Rechelbacher, the founder of the Aveda Corporation and Intelligent Nutrients, has passed away at the age of 72, according to his company’s website. A native of Austria, he opened the Horst & Friends salon in Minneapolis in 1965. Then in 1978, he started the Aveda Corporation, a company which he sold to Estee Lauder in 1997 for $300 million.
Eastview High School’s Wind Ensemble performs Friday at the Minneapolis Convention Center, and a piece they’re performing is an original composition by Patrick Hahn from Austria. Hahn, 18, is a former Eastview foreign exchange student. “[The piece] is kind of a reflection. It’s supposed to be played in a couple churches in Austria and Hungary as well, so it’s kind of kept in a more reflective style,” Hahn said.
